Zucchero fa un tour mondiale! In inglese Zucchero significa “sugar” e naturalmente è anche il nome d’arte di un famoso cantante italiano. Ho letto da qualche parte che ha acquisito questo nick dal suo maestro elementare. Nella vita reale, il suo nome è Adelmo Fornaciari e la sua music si ispira molto gospel, soul, blues e musica rock.

Zucchero is on a world tour. In Italian means “sugar” and of course, it is also the stage name of a popular Italian singer. I read somewhere that he acquired this nickname from his elementary teacher who used to call him that. In real life, his name is Adelmo Fornaciari and his music is greatly inspired by gospel, soul, blues, and rock music.

Nel romanzo “Dreaming Sophia” presento il cantate e la sua musica ai miei lettori. In una scena in cui Sofia e Lorenzo stanno in macchina insieme, quando sentono Zucchero alla radio cominciano a cantare le parole di “Il diavolo in me.”

In the novel “Dreaming Sophia” I introduce the singer and his music to my readers. in a scene in which Sophia and Lorenzo are driving together. When they hear Zucchero on the radio they begin to serenade one another singing the words “I Got the Devil in Me.”

In questo momento Zucchero sta facendo un tour mondiale per il suo nuovo album “Black Cat.” Ha iniziato il tour nel 2016 in Italia e in Europa. Ha appena attraversato il mare e farà tante soste qui in America.

Zucchero is currently making a World Tour for his new album “Black Cat.” He started his tour in 2016 in Italy and Europe and has just jumped the pond and will be making several stops here in America.

A marzo passerà da San Francisco. Ho appena comprato i biglietti per vederlo. Non vedo l’ora! L’ultima volta che l’ho visto in concerto è stato circa sei anni fa. È stata veramente incredibile perché ha suonato in un piccolo bar di paese qui nella mia città di Fremont. Un posto chiamato “The Saddle Rack” dove le persone indossano stivali e cappelli di cow boy e escono il sabato per danzare in linea.

In March he will be swinging by San Francisco. I just got my tickets to see him. I can’t wait! The last time I saw Zucchero in concert, was about six years ago. It was the most incredible thing because he performed at a little honky-tonk country-western bar right here in my hometown of Fremont. It’s a place called The Saddle Rack where people with cowboy boots and hats go on a Saturday night to line dance.

Questa sera tuttavia, il posto era pieno di italiani provenienti da tutta la penisola e la Silicon Valley per sentire una delle stelle più iconiche della musica italiana. Per caso, proprio mentre stavo arrivando alla porta del locale Zucchero stava uscendo dalla sua macchina. Ci siamo praticamente incrociati. All’interno del bar, perché era così piccolo, io e i miei amici italiani erano così vicino a lui era quasi possibile toccarlo. Ci siamo divertiti molto quella notte. Abbiamo ballato e cantato tutti insieme con Zucchero. È stato uno spettacolo grande!

This particular evening, however, the place was packed with Italian ex-pats who came from all over the peninsula and Silicon Valley to hear one of Italy’s most iconic musicians. As luck would have it, just as I was arriving at the door Zucchero happened to be stepping out of his limo. We practically bumped into one another. Inside the bar, because it was such a small venue, I and my Italian friends were spitting distance away from him. We had a lot of fun that night, dancing and singing along with Zucchero’s band. He put on quite a lively show.

Quest’anno il luogo di incontro è un po’ più grande. Penso che gli americani hanno finalmente capito bene chi è Zucchero.

This year the venue is a tad bigger. Americans may have finally figured out who Zucchero is.
