Ciao a tutti! Sono Daniela, e insieme a me ci sono Eva e Angelo. Siamo i responsabili della scuola di lingua e cultura italiana LIS con sede a Lucca, in Toscana. La nostra amica Melissa nel prossimo giugno verrà qui alla nostra scuola per uno dei suoi viaggi- studio in Italia, e speriamo che siate in molti che la volete accompagnare. Il viaggio di Melissa è in programma dal 1 al 12 giugno prossimi, quindi avete ancora tutto il tempo per organizzarvi! Per questo, vi voglio parlare un po’ meglio di questo soggiorno. La mattina, dal lunedì al venerdì, i partecipanti faranno lezione di lingua italiana a scuola; ma non preoccupatevi perchè la scuola è piccola e familiare, e le lezioni sono istruttive ma anche molto divertenti. Avrete la possibilità di conoscere meglio la lingua italiana nei sui usi più quotidiani, quelli che vi servono tutti i giorni, e conoscerete anche altri studenti come voi provenienti da altre parti del mondo, tutti a Lucca per lo stesso motivo, e cioè imparare divertendosi nella nostra bella Toscana, la patria della lingua italiana.
Hi everyone! I am Daniela, and together with me is Eva and Angelo. We are responsible for the school of Italian language and Culture (LIS) situated in Lucca in Tuscany. Our friend Melissa will come here to our school next June for one of her study trips in Italy and we hope that many of you will want to accompany her. Melissa’s program is from June 1-12, so you weill have plenty of time to get organized! For this, I want to talk to you more about this vacation. In the mornings, from Monday until Friday, the participants will have Italian lessons at the school; but don’t worry because the school is small and easy going, and the lesson are instructive but also entertaining. You will have the chance to learn Italian and its everyday uses, those which will help you in the real word and you will get to know other students who come from all over the world to Lucca, all with the same goal, that is to learn enjoying yourselves in our beautiful Tuscany, the heart of the Italian language.
Nel pomeriggio, dopo le lezioni, abbiamo preparato un gran bel programma di attività per farvi conoscere vari aspetti della nostra cultura, e anche per assaggiare specialità toscane e buon vino ( e come sarebbe possibile il contrario?? siamo nella terra dei vini migliori d’Italia!!!). Ma ora continua Angelo, che vi accompagnerà in alcune di queste attività del pomeriggio.
In the afternoon, after classes, we have put together a great program of activities to give you the chance to know various aspects of our culture and also to taste Tuscan specialities and good wine (and how would it be possible not to?? We are the land of the best wines in Italy!!!) But now Angelo continues, as he will be accompanying you on many of the afternoon activities.
Buongiorno! Visiteremo Lucca, ovviamente, dove, tra l’altro, assisteremo a un concerto con musiche di Giacomo Puccini che è nato proprio qui, ma poi anche andremo a Pisa, in Garfagnana con le sue montagne, Forte dei Marmi , sulle spiagge della Versilia, la splendida Pietrasanta, chiamata Piccola Atene per la sua ricchezza di monumenti, dove si lavora da sempre il famoso Marmo di Carrara, e poi faremo una bella degustazione di vino in una splendida fattoria delle nostre colline, e due lezioni di cucina in cui gli studenti potranno preparare e gustare alcuni dei piatti più gustosi della nostra tradizione. Ma per questo lascio la parola a Eva, che sarà la vostra chef specialissima per queste lezioni!
Good day! We will visit Lucca, obviously, where among other things we will attend a concert with music written by Giacomo Puccini that was born right here, but we will also go to Pisa, to Garfaganana with her mountains, Forte dei Marmi, to the beach in Versilia, the splendid Pietrasanta, caled the small Athens for the wonderful monuments, where they work the famous Carrara marble, and then we will have a taste testing of wines in a splendid farm in our hills, and there will be two cooking classes in which the students will prepare and taste some delicious Tuscan dishes. Salve! Nelle nostre lezioni di cucina prepareremo tanti piatti diversi, dalla pasta fatta a mano, naturalmente, ai secondi piatti più tipici e ai dolci più prelibati. Ci divertiremo molto durante la lezione, e vedrete che anche voi riuscirete a fare una ottima pasta fatta a mano anche se non l’avete mai fatta prima! e poi ceneremo tutti insieme parlando italiano e bevendo vino bianco o rosso ma sempre buono! Tra le specialità che faremo ci saranno sicuramente anche i famosi cantuccini toscani, i famosi biscottini con le mandorle, da gustare insieme al Vin Santo, un vino dolce liquoroso che si produce solo in questa zona. Insomma, vi aspettiamo tutti qui a Lucca! Ma ora voglio anche riallacciarmi al tema di questo mese, febbraio. Melissa oggi vi parla di San Valentino; anch’io ho una piccola storia su questa festa.
Hello! In our cooking lessons we will prepare many different dishes, from pastas made by hand, naturally to second courses typical of Tuscany and to delicious sweets. We will enjoy ourselves during the lessons and you will see that you will succeed in making an optimal home made pasta even if you have never done so before! And then we will dine on everything speaking in Italian and drinking white and red wine, always the best! Between the specialties That we make there will surely be also the famous Tuscan cantucci, the famous biscotti made with almonds to try with Vin Santo, a sweet wine that is only produced in this area. In short, we wait for everyone here in Lucca! But now I want to get back to this month’s theme. Melissa today is talking with you about San Valentine; I too have a small story about this holiday.
Ovviamente anche in Italia il 14 febbraio festeggiamo la festa degli innamorati. Di solito le coppie vanno a cena al ristorante e si scambiano dei piccoli regali. Ma a febbraio abbiamo anche un’altra festa importante, il Carnevale. Qualche anno fa, il giorno di S.Valentino era esattamente durante il Carnevale: quindi ho avuto l’idea di incontrare il mio fidanzato direttamente al ristorante e ci sono andata vestita da…odalisca!! E’ stato davvero molto ma molto divertente! Ma la cosa ancora più divertente è successa l’anno dopo, quando il mio fidanzato è arrivato al ristorante vestito da SUPERMAN! Ovviamente gli ho chiesto di sposarmi! Allora grazie a tutti e saluti da tutti noi! Ciao ciao!
Obviously In Italy on February 14 we also celebrate the day of lovers. Usually couple go out to restaurants and the exchange small gifts But in February we also have another important holiday – Carnevale. Some years ago, on the day of St. Valentines, it was exactly the same as Carnevale: so I had the idea to meet my boyfriend directly at the restaurant and I went there dressed as…an odalisque (a female concubine from a Turkish harem)
It was very entertaining! But the funniest thing was the year later when my boyfriend arrived at the restaurant dressed as Superman! Obviously I asked him to marry me! So, thanks everybody. Hi to everyone from us! Ciao ciao!
