Il 2014 è stato un anno straordinario, ricco di momenti che hanno profondamente arricchito la mia vita. Riflettendo sugli ultimi 12 mesi, provo un’immensa gratitudine per i viaggi che hanno ampliato i miei orizzonti, le amicizie che mi hanno portato gioia e connessione, e le avventure inaspettate che mi hanno spinto a crescere e ad abbracciare l’ignoto. È stato un anno di esperienze indimenticabili e cambiamenti significativi.
2014 was an extraordinary year, filled with moments that deeply enriched my life. Reflecting on the past 12 months, I feel immense gratitude for the travels that broadened my horizons, the friendships that brought joy and connection, and the unexpected adventures that pushed me to grow and embrace the unknown. It was a year of unforgettable experiences and meaningful change.

L’anno è iniziato con un’entusiasmante opportunità: un invito a scrivere per Transparent Language, una piattaforma che mi ha permesso di condividere la mia passione per la lingua e la cultura italiana con un pubblico più ampio. Questa esperienza ha aperto le porte a molte altre collaborazioni gratificanti con blog rinomati come Charming Italy e italki. Grazie a queste collaborazioni, ho potuto connettermi con una vivace comunità di studenti di lingue e viaggiatori, arricchendo le mie esperienze sia come scrittrice che come promotrice della cultura italiana.
The year began with an exciting invitation to write for Transparent Language, a platform that allowed me to share my passion for Italian language and culture with a broader audience. This opportunity opened the door to many other rewarding collaborations with well-known blogs such as Charming Italy and italki. Through these partnerships, I connected with a vibrant community of language learners and travelers, enriching my experiences as both a writer and an advocate for Italian culture.

Journeys and Discoveries
Giugno è stato un mese straordinario, ricco di esperienze arricchenti e nuove connessioni. Ho trascorso due settimane meravigliose a Lucca, studiando italiano con un gruppo fantastico e immergendomi nel fascino della città. Ho anche visitato le splendide regioni delle Marche e dell’Umbria, approfondendo la mia conoscenza della cultura italiana e stringendo nuove collaborazioni preziose per i programmi di lingua italiana Matta.
June was an incredible month filled with enriching experiences and connections. I spent two wonderful weeks in Lucca, studying Italian with a fantastic group and exploring the charm of the city. I also ventured into the stunning regions of Le Marche and Umbria, deepening my appreciation for Italian culture and forming valuable new partnerships for the Matta Italian Language Programs.
Tornata in California, ho ampliato le opzioni per i soggiorni linguistici italiani e ho avuto il piacere di ospitare Lucrezia Oddone di Learn Italian with Lucrezia. Insieme, abbiamo collaborato alla realizzazione di un podcast, condividendo la nostra passione per l’insegnamento della lingua italiana. Inoltre, ho partecipato alla presentazione a San Francisco di Dianne Hales del suo nuovo libro, Mona Lisa: A Life Discovered.
Back in California, I expanded my Italian language homestay options and had the pleasure of hosting Lucrezia Oddone from Learn Italian with Lucrezia. Together, we collaborated on a podcast, blending our shared passion for teaching Italian. I also attended Dianne Hales’ San Francisco Armani presentation of her new book, Mona Lisa: A Life Discovered.

Nel 2014, ho fatto un passo emozionante lanciando il mio podcast, “Tutti Matti per l’Italiano,” una piattaforma per condividere il mio amore per la lingua e la cultura italiana con un pubblico più ampio. Per renderlo davvero unico, ho collaborato con la talentuosa cantante Gloria Acerboni e un gruppo di brillanti studenti di musica della San Jose State University per dare vita a una sigla originale, “Vivi, sorridi, divertiti,” che ho scritto personalmente. Questo inno vivace e allegro cattura perfettamente l’essenza del podcast: vivere la vita al massimo, abbracciare la gioia e divertirsi mentre si impara l’italiano.
In 2014, I took an exciting leap by launching my podcast, “Tutti Matti per l’Italiano,” a platform to share my love for the Italian language and culture with a wider audience. To make it truly unique, I collaborated with the talented singer Gloria Acerboni and a group of gifted music students from San Jose State University to bring to life an original theme song, “Vivi, sorridi, divertiti,” which I wrote. This upbeat and lively anthem perfectly captures the essence of the podcast: living life to the fullest, embracing joy, and having fun while learning Italian.

Il 2014 è stato un anno pieno di viaggi, nuove amicizie e progetti creativi che hanno arricchito la mia vita in tanti modi. Guardando al 2015, sono piena di entusiasmo e aspettative per le nuove opportunità di promuovere la lingua italiana, organizzare i programmi linguistici Matta con fantastici nuovi partner di scuole di lingua e completare il mio romanzo “Dreaming Sophia,” ambientato nella incantevole città di Firenze. A tutti voi auguro un Nuovo Anno pieno di ispirazione, risate e successo. Abbracciamo insieme la gioia di imparare e diventiamo tutti un po’ “Matta” per la lingua italiana!
2014 was a year full of travels, new friendships, and creative projects that enriched my life in countless ways. As I look ahead to 2015, I’m filled with excitement and anticipation for new opportunities to promote the Italian language, organize Matta Italian Language Programs with fantastic new Language School Partners, and complete my novel “Dreaming Sophia,” set in the enchanting city of Florence. To all of you, I wish a New Year filled with inspiration, laughter, and success. Let’s embrace the joy of learning together and go a little “Matta” for the Italian language!

Ciao Gina! Thanks so much for following the blog! I love hearing from you. You are absolutely correct about the foto at the top of the page…it was taken in Lucca! It is the fountain in the center of town where we filled our water bottles every day. The locals call it “la Pupporona” (the bare breasted lady). Buon anno! 🙂
