Notizia! A new accommodation option in a private apartment has been added
to the 2023 Lucca program.
Melissa ha appena aggiunto qualcosa di nuovo al programma. Ora, puoi alloggiare in un appartamento privato con aria condizionata in una strada tranquilla, vicino alla Scuola Italiana di Lucca, che si affaccia sulla Torre Guinigi*. Puoi godere della comodità di avere due camere da letto (una con un letto matrimoniale e una con un letto singolo), una zona soggiorno, una piccola cucina, un frigorifero, un bagno e una lavatrice! L’appartamento può ospitare fino a tre persone. È l’ideale per amici che viaggiano insieme o in coppia.
Melissa has just added something NEW to the program. Now, you can stay in a private air-conditioned apartment in a quiet street, close to Lucca Italian School, with a view of the Guinigi Tower*. You will enjoy the convenience of having two bedrooms (one with a matrimonial-size bed and one with a single twin bed), a living area, a small kitchen, a refrigerator, a bathroom, AND a washing machine! The apartment accommodates up to three people. It is perfect for friends traveling together or a couple… so bring your partner or a friend.

È famosa per le sue mura rinascimentali ben conservate che circondano il centro storico della città, piene di stradine, palazzi antichi e belle piazze.
In addition to learning the language, whether you’re interested in history, art or simply soaking up the atmosphere of a beautiful Italian town, Lucca has something to offer everyone. It is a charming and picturesque town located in Tuscany, Italy. It is famous for its well-preserved Renaissance-era walls surrounding the historic city center, filled with narrow streets, ancient buildings, and beautiful piazzas.

È possibile camminare o pedalare lungo le antiche mura della città! Le mura di Lucca sono uniche e regalano un panorama mozzafiato sulla città e sulla campagna circostante.
You can enjoy strolling or biking along the ancient city walls! Lucca’s wall is unique and offers breathtaking views of the town and the surrounding countryside.
A Lucca è d’obbligo una visita al Duomo di San Martino. La cattedrale risale all’XI secolo. Melissa ti accompagnerà in chiesa, ti mostrerà la tomba di Ilaria del Carretto scolpita da Jacopo della Quercia e ti racconterà la leggenda della moglie di Paolo Guinigi.
While in Lucca, visiting the Duomo di San Martino is a must. The cathedral dates back to the 11th century. Melissa will guide you through the church, show you the tomb of Ilaria del Carretto carved by Jacopo della Quercia, and tell you the legend of the wife of Paolo Guinigi.
Assieme esploreremo la Piazza dell’Anfiteatro e pranzeremo o faremo un aperitivo. Questa piazza di forma ovale è stata costruita su un antico anfiteatro romano ed è ora piena di negozi, caffè e ristoranti.
Together we will explore the Piazza dell’Anfiteatro and have lunch or a drink. This oval square was built on an ancient Roman amphitheater and is now full of shops, cafes, and restaurants.
Dopo la lezione un giorno possiamo salire sulla Torre Guinigi. Questa torre del 14 º secolo ha un giardino sul tetto con querce, con vista panoramica sulla città. Melissa vi racconterà anche la leggenda della torre e perché c’è un albero in cima! In lontananza, in un giorno sereno, vedrai la forma del gigante addormentato nel contorno della Garfagnana.
After class one day we can climb the Guinigi Tower. This 14th-century tower has a rooftop garden with oak trees, offering panoramic city views. Melissa will also tell you the legend of the tower and why there is a tree at the top! In the distance, on a clear day, you will see the shape of the sleeping giant in the contour of the Garfagnana mountains.
Una visita al Palazzo Pfanner, il palazzo barocco, oggi museo, presenta splendidi giardini, affreschi e mobili antichi. Vale la pena dare un’occhiata dentro.
A visit to the Palazzo Pfanner, the Baroque palace, now a museum, features beautiful gardens, frescoes, and antique furniture. It is worth a peek inside.
Devi assolutamente fare una passeggiata lungo Via Fillungo, la vivace strada di Lucca è fiancheggiata da negozi ed è il luogo ideale per fare acquisti di souvenir, e prodotti locali è un must! Fai un salto in uno dei negozi e fai una conversazione con i negozianti. Quale modo migliore per praticare l’italiano?
You should definitely take a walk along Via Fillungo, the lively street of Lucca is lined with shops and is the ideal place to shop for souvenirs, and local products is a must! Pop into one of the shops and have a conversation with the shopkeepers. What better way to practice Italian?
Lucca è la città natale di Puccini, e insieme assisteremo ad un concerto di musica pucciniana. Più tardi possiamo passeggiare per la casa di Puccini, ora un museo, e visitare la statua nella piazza dedicata al compositore di Madam Butterfly.
Lucca is the birthplace of Puccini, and together we will attend a concert of Puccini music. Later we can wander by the house of Puccini, now a museum, and visit the statue in the piazza dedicated to the composer of Madam Butterfly.
E non dimenticare, durante i nostri 10 giorni e 9 notti a Lucca, il gruppo di Melissa godrà di una gamma completa di attività, tra cui una degustazione di vini, una lezione di cucina, un’escursione alla Villa Medicea a Cerreto Guidi e Vinci, il luogo di nascita di Leonardo, e la Certosa di Calci, così come visite per chiacchierare con gli artigiani lucchesi locali, e una lezione di pittura con Suzanna. Le cene di gruppo avranno luogo nei rinomati ristoranti di Lucca, e amici e insegnanti italiani della scuola faranno tappa per ravvivare le conversazioni italiane serali.
And don’t forget, during our 10 days and 9 nights in Lucca, Melissa’s group will enjoy a full range of activities, including a wine tasting, a cooking lesson, an excursion to the Villa Medicea in Cerreto Guidi and Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo, and Certosa di Calci, as well as visits to chat with local Lucchesi artisans, and a painting lesson with Suzanna. Group dinners will occur in well-known restaurants in Lucca, and Italian friends and teachers from the school will drop by to liven up the evening Italian conversations.
