Non riesco a crederci. Le voci girano dicendo che la caffettiera di Bialetti—il cosidetto Moka, il simbolo dell’italia sta per entrare nel regno del nastro con otto trace e dei telefoni a disco. La famosa compagnia Bialetti si trova sull’orlo di un abiso. L’ingegnoso design in due parti che si mette al fornello, con il suo famoso ometto amichevole, è in crisi e viene eclissato dal Cialde, le capsule di caffè pre-misurate e preconfezionate. Sembra che uno stile di vita stia per finire. I cieli si stanno oscurando e il mondo sfugga di mano.
I just can’t believe it. Rumors are flying around saying that the Bialetti coffee pot—so-called Moka, the symbol of Italy is about to enter the realm of 8-track players and rotary phones. The famous Bialetti Company is teetering on the edge of extinction. The ingenious two-part stovetop design, with its famous friendly little man—is in crisis, being eclipsed by the Cialde the prepackaged, premeasured coffee capsules. A way of life is ending. Skies are darkening–it seems the world is about to end.
Per anni, la caffettiera di Bialetti è stata un elemento fisso, un punto di riferimento, in quasi tutte le cucine italiane—inclusa la mia. Anch’io ho una bella collezione. Ogni volta che torno a casa dall’Italia, sembra che il mio assortimento continui a crescere. Incredibile che io da sola, non abbia tenuto in piedi la società. Ho la versione originale di argento, così come le caffettiere dipente rosso, viola e arancione. Ognuno di lor è ben utilizzato e indossa le sue cicatrice orgogliosamente—bruciate e scolorite sulle parte basse, ognungo delle quali un segno di essere ben amato.
For years and years, the Bialetti pot has been a standard fixture, a reference point, in almost every Italian kitchen—as well as my own. I too have quite a collection. Every time I return home from a trip to Italy, it seems my assortment continues to grow. Incredible that I alone haven’t kept the company afloat. I have the standard silver version, as well as pots painted, red, purple, and orange. Each is well-used and wears its scars proudly—burned and discolored on the bottom—signs each have been well-loved.
Non riesco nemmeno ad immaginare di non essere accolta dal faccino dell’ometto di Bialetti con i suoi baffi divertenti o sentire il soddisfacente gorgoglio che significa che il mio caffè del mattino è quasi pronto. Come posso farcela a non essere svegliato dall’aroma fragrante di un buon caffè preparto dal signor Bialetti!
I can’t even imagine not being greeted by the Bialetti man’s little face with his funny mustache in the morning or hearing the satisfying gurgling sound signifying my morning coffee is nearly ready. How can I cope with not being wakened by the fragrant aroma of strong espresso prepared by mister Bialetti!
Negli ultimi due anni ho insegnato a tutta la famiglia come riempire e misurare le macinature e preparare la perfetta tazza di caffè. Siamo tutti dipendenti, e ogni figlio ha la sua caffettiera nel suo appartamento a San Francisco. Ecco il filmato attuale in cui il figlio numero 3 ha provato a prepararsi il primo caffè. Ragazzi! Zuccone! Figurati! Diciamo solo che al secondo tentativo è andato molto meglio.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve taught my entire family how to fill and measure the grinds and prepare the perfect cup of coffee. We are all addicted, and each son has his own pot in his own apartment in San Francisco. Here is actual footage as son #3 tries brew himself a cup. Kids! What a knucklehead! What can you do? Let’s just say on the second try he got much better.
Dicono che la ragione numero uno è che Bialetti è in debito e che sta fallendo a causa della gente che preferisce le capsule che risparmiano tempo e che le cialde stanno superando. Ancora una volta, devo chiedere: che razza di mondo viviamo? Le persone sono così impetuose da non avere tre minuti per preparare un espresso nelle loro cucine?
They say the number one reason Bialetti is in debt and going out of biz is that people prefer the time-saving capsules, and the pods are taking over. Once again, I have to ask—what is the world coming too? Are people in such a rush they no longer have three minutes to brew an espresso in their own kitchens?
Smettiamola la follia e fermiamo l’avanzata di un esercito di pillole prefabbricate e dall’aspetto generico precommpilato—senza facce e senza baffi! Se amate una persona che beve caffè, compratela una caffettiera Bialetti! Diamine, comprala tre o quattro!
Let’s stop the madness and halt the advance of an army of prefabbed, premeasured generic looking pills—without faces and without mustaches. If you love a coffee drinker—buy him a Bialetti coffee pot! Heck, buy him three or four.
Insieme, possiamo essere eroi—salvando una caffettiera di Moka una alla volta. Sì! POSSIAMO fare la differenza. È possibile affrontare le grandi società—Lavazza, Nescafe, and Illy! Possiamo aiutare il perdente e salvare l’ometto che possa farci tutti un’altra tazza di caffè e vivere per vedere un altro giorno!
Together, we can be heroes—saving one Moka pot at a time. Yes! We CAN make a difference. We can stand up to the big corporations—Lavazza, Nescafe, and Illy! We can help the underdog and save the little guy, so he can make us all another cup of espresso and live to see another day!

Fun little discovery! Personalizzare una caffettiera di Bialetti
Sono un po colpevele io per il disagio nel quale si trova la Bialetti, perche quando si e sciupato la rondella della mia Moka ( di una tazza), invece di comprare una Moka nuova, ho smesso (anche per ragione di salute) da bere il caffe: tacchino freddo.
