La scorsa settimana sono stata entusiasta di sapere che Lucca Italian School aveva aperta le sue porte al pubblico ed era, pronta per accogliere nuovamente gli studenti stranieri nelle loro classi.
Last week I was thrilled to learn that Lucca Italian School had opened its doors to the public and was ready to welcome foreign students back into their classrooms.

Adesso ogni giorno riceva un’email, un SMS o un messaggio su Facebook dagli amici Italiani che mi informano di aver ricevuto la vaccinazione.

Proprio oggi ho sentito Beatrice a Firenze, e lei mi dice che le cose in Italia stanno avanzando rapidamente e la vita sta cominciando a sentirsi di nuovo normale. È anche un’ottima notizia sapere che ha già prenotato per tutto il mese di settembre con studenti!
Just today, I heard from Beatrice in Florence, and she tells me that things in Italy are advancing quickly, and life there is starting to feel normal again. It is also such great news to know she has already booked her entire month of September with homestay students!
Mi dice in questo momento, a Firenze, quando si frequenta un ristorante bisogna comunque mangiare all’aperto. Entro luglio, secondo lei, sarà possibile mangiare dentro. Anche i musei sono aperti, ma è meglio prenotare prima online, per il momento, perché l’ingresso è limitato. Anche il coprifuoco che limita i movimenti da mezzanotte alle 5:00 verrà revocato il 21 giugno, quindi la sera si potrà uscire liberamente.
She tells me at the moment, in Florence, when frequenting a restaurant you still must eat outdoors. Her take on the situation is that by July it will be possible to eat inside. Museums are also open, but it is best to book first online as, for the time being, there is limited entry. Curfews restricting movement from midnight until 5:00 am are also to be lifted on June 21, so in the evenings you can go out freely.

Mi aspetto che, con i cittadini italiani ora vaccinati, i prossimi tre mesi continueranno a mostrare miglioramenti per quanto riguarda i voli, e gli spostamenti tra le regioni in Italia, nonché un allentamento delle restrizioni. Le notizie continuano a migliorare sempre di più.
I expect, with Italian citizens now vaccinated, the next three months will continue to show improvements in regard to flights, and movement between regions in Italy as well as an easing of restrictions. The news just keeps getting better and better.

Ho parlato con entrambi i miei partner linguistici per i programmi ad Arezzo — Paola Testi, la direttrice della scuola, e Daniela Bonaccorsi, una dei soci della scuola alla Lucca Italian School, ed entrambi sono pronti ad accogliervi in Italia per il prossimo Matta Italian Language Program.
I’ve spoken with both my 2021 language partners in Arezzo — Paola Testi the director of the school and Daniela Bonaccorsi, one of the school’s partners at Lucca Italian School and both are ready to welcome you in Italy for the next Matta Italian Language Program.
Daniela mi ha scritto: Riguardo a come sarà l’esperienza in generale: sì sarà differente, non possiamo nasconderlo. Insomma, un po’ di restrizioni ci saranno ancora. Io comunque spero che decidiate di venire, consapevoli dei possibili limiti, e che possiamo avere in ogni caso una bellissima esperienza insieme. Tutti abbiamo voglia di ripartire, vero?
Daniela wrote me: Regarding what the experience will be like in general: yes, it will be different, we can’t hide that. In short, there will still be some restrictions. However, I hope that you all decide to come, aware of the possible limits, knowing that we can have a wonderful experience together in any case. We all want to get back to normal, right?
Quindi, ci saranno ancora alcune precauzioni. Le mascherine, ad esempio, potrebbero ancora indossate in ambienti chiusi. Ma, quando possibile, le lezioni (a Lucca per esempio) si svolgono all’aperto nel giardino della scuola.
So, there will still be precautions in place. Masks for instance, may still need to be worn in closed environments. But, whenever possible, classes (in Lucca for example) will be held out doors in the school’s garden.
I miei soci ed io abbiamo esaminato gli itinerari dei nostri programmi linguistici per 2021 e possiamo confermare che le attività, le degustazioni di vino, i corsi di cucina, i corsi d’arte e le escursioni nelle città vicine in collina che abbiamo programmato saranno possibile da fare. Tuttavia, a causa di questi tempi insoliti, abbiamo apportato alcune piccole modifiche alle attività del nostro programma.
My partners and I have gone over the itineraries for our 2021 language programs and we can confirm that the activities, wine tastings, cooking classes, art classes, and excursions to neighboring hill towns we have scheduled will be available for us to do. Still, due to these unusual times, we have made a few small adjustments to our program activities.
Arezzo
August 29 – September 10, 2021
L’itinerario rimane lo stesso. Studia alla scuola la mattina / Attività pomeridiane nel pomeriggio. Stiamo ancora vedendo come svolgerà la giostra del Saracino quest’anno. Dovremmo poterci sedere in tribuna, ma non siamo sicuri che la cena Propiziatoria accadrà nei quartieri. In caso contrario, lo sostituiremo con una festa in giardino tenuta a casa di un’amica. Si aggiungono anche alcune divertenti aggiunte… quindi vieni ad Arezzo e scopri cosa sono!
The Itinerary remains the same. Study at school in the mornings / Afternoon activities in the afternoon. We are still playing it by ear to see how the joust will be handled this year. We should be able to sit in the stands, but we are not sure if the Good Luck dinners held in the four neighborhoods will still occur. If not we will substitute it with a backyard party held in the home of a friend. Some fun additions are also being added… so come to Arezzo and find out what they are!
Lucca
Sept. 17 – Sept. 26, 2021
L’itinerario rimane lo stesso. Studia alla scuola la mattina / Attività pomeridiane nel pomeriggio. La visita al laboratorio di cioccolata non è disponibile in questo momento in quanto i visitatori non sono ammessi a causa di restrizioni sanitarie, quindi sostituiremo le escursioni con un concerto di Puccini che si terrà presso la scuola. Inoltre stiamo valutando di sostituire un’escursione in spiaggia o una gita alle grotte di marmo a Carrara invece della visita a Bolgheri… quindi vieni a Lucca e scopri quale nuova escursione decidiamo di aggiungere!
The itinerary remains the same. Study at school in the mornings / Afternoon activities in the afternoon. Visiting the Laboratorio di cioccolata is not available at this time as visitors into the laboratorio are not allowed due to sanitary restrictions, so we will substitute those excursions with a Puccini concert that will be held at the school. Also, we are considering substituting a beach excursion or outing to the Marble caves instead of the visit to Bolgheri… so come to Lucca and find out which new excursion we decide to add!
