Meet Renata!
Get to know Renata, who offers a homestay in the heart of Milano. Renata is a qualified teacher of Italian for foreigners; she has a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature Moderne from the University of Milan. She has always loved foreign languages and cultures and began her linguistic journey studying Latin and ancient Greek. Renata obtained a Certificate (DITALS I) from the University for Foreigners of Siena. She now dedicates herself to teaching and hosting students eager to immerse themselves in Italian culture and language.
Through an Italian homestay Vacation, Renata offers courses tailored to those who want to learn the language and experience Italian culture in the heart of Milan. She will adapt her teaching methods to meet your needs. She works with beginning and intermediate Italian students and offers advanced conversation and literature courses for more advanced speakers.
During your stay in Milan, you will live with Renata and her family, meet her friends, and engage in daily activities like cooking, shopping, watching TV, and impromptu familial discussions. In this way, you will continue the hours of study of the Italian language through a natural method — speaking, listening, and asking questions.
Milano is a lively northern Italian city!
Milano, città “timida e discrete” che non esibisce mai le sue bellezze. Milan is a city that is stately, reserved, and discrete. It is also a city filled with 19th-century palazzi and romantic, yet still efficient, street cars and trams. Milano is super easy to get around, even independently, by bike, on foot, or by public transportation.
Milano is also alive with so many things to do and see! Taking part in Renata’s homestay is a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in art, architecture, and music. The choice of museums, restaurants, pizzerias, cafes, and theatres will spoil you. With Renata, you can visit the Pinacoteca di Brera, Palazzo Reale, The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, the Duomo with its roofs, the Castle Sforzesco, La Scala, The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, or even stroll in the center or the near the castle park, visit the local markets, do some shopping, eat ice cream or take a boat ride on the canal in Navigli. Or, you can have an aperativo in one of the many bars and cafès that line Milan’s famous waterway.
You can also learn about Italian history — the Romans, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and even Napoleonic history in Milan. Renata will happily guide you through Milan’s heritage — sure to satisfy any history buff.
Meet Renata’s family.
Renata lives in Milan with her partner Paolo, an architect. Together they love art, design, cinema, music, theatre, good food, travel, and nature. There are also the older children, Alessandro (20) and Caterina (18), who study outside the house but who often come to visit their mother.
Your Homestay Accommodations in Milano
Renata’s home is in the city center, near the Sforzesco Castle and the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, in an area well served by public transport (train, metro, tram, and bus) and bike paths and commercial spaces. Renata’a apartment building is a typical Milanese “palazzo” of the early 1900s and features a large courtyard.
The apartment is on the third floor, and the interior is open, spacious, and bright. It overlooks green parks, thanks to Milan’s initiative, CityLife, that preserves green spaces and important architectural presences.
Renata’s neighborhood has several trendy bars and grocery stores. It is just a few steps from the modern center’s commercial districts and important historical and cultural monuments.
You will share a large living room and a cozy kitchen with Renata and her family. Your bedroom will have a double bed, desk, TV, WI-Fi, and bathroom. The house can accommodate one person or a couple. There are also two bicycles available, a great way to move around the city, even independently, since there are many bike paths.
A homestay with Renata may also include impromptu activities such as:
Aperitifs and dinners with friends of Renata, bike rides, spas, yoga, pilates, painting, theater performances, concerts, museums, and participation in cultural events. If you are interested in a particular activity, notify Renata to organize it beforehand.
The homestay package does not include paid experiences (restaurants, public transport tickets, museum entrance, paid shows, etc.). There is a possibility of leaving Milan with Renata to sightsee. In this case, the cost of petrol is shared.
