In questo caso, il principe azzurro, che la protagonista Lexi Wood soprannomina “Mr. Perfect” (un italiano di Sicilia) sembra essere la candidata perfetta per lei. Si incontrano a New York per caso, e poiche conosce la lingua italiana (avendo studiato in Italia al college), si piacciono e cominciano a frequentare. Le cose sembrano andare alla grande, e lei non riesce a trovare nulla di sbagliato in lui e inizia a immaginare un futuro con lui.
In this case, Prince Charming, who the protagonist Lexi Wood dubs “Mr. Perfect” (an Italian from Sicilia), seems to be the perfect candidate for her. They meet in New York by chance, and because she knows Italian (having studied in Italy in college), they start dating. Things seem to be going splendidly; she can find no fault with this guy and begins to envision a future with him.

La sottoscritta (io), in tempi record, ha ascoltato il romanzo di Valentina Vanzini su Audiobooks, narrata da Valeria Perdonò. La storia di Vanzini cadde nella categoria di romanzi rosa, ma è scritta in una maniera ironica e imprevedibile e la premessa (e anche il disegno della copertina del audiobook, devo ammettere) mi ha colpito e catturato la mia attenzione fin dal inizio. La Perdonò, la narratrice, è talentosa e facilmente adatta la sua voce ad ogni personaggio ed emozione.
In record time, yours truly listened to Valentina Vanzini’s novel on Audiobooks, narrated by Valeria Perdonò. I must admit that the premise (and the audiobook’s cover design) has drawn my attention from the beginning. Vanzini’s story falls into the category of a romance novel. However, it is written ironically and unpredictably. La Perdonò, the narrator, is talented and easily adapts her voice to each character and emotion.
La storia si svolge in Marzamemi e Pachino due luoghi nel cuore della scrittrice, Valentina Vanzini, che ha voluto far scoprire ai suoi lettori. Le descrizioni di questi luoghi sono così ben fatti, vuoi andare subito in Sicilia! Mare blu, spiaggi bianchi, cibo squisito e descrizione di ricette che fanno venire l’acquolina in bocca, personaggi principali stravaganti e ben definiti e personaggi secondari con intriganti storie parallele, la festa della Madonna e una suocera che rende la vita difficile… sono tutti gli ingredienti per inventare una storia piccante e appetitosa.
The story is set in Marzamemi and Pachino, two places very dear to the author Valentina Vanzini, that she wanted her readers to discover and enjoy. The descriptions of these places are so well done you want to go straight to Sicily! Blue sea, white beaches, exquisite food, and recipe descriptions that make your mouth water, extravagant and well-defined main characters and secondary characters with intriguing parallel stories, the feast of the Madonna and a mother-in-law who makes life difficult… are all the ingredients for concocting a spicy and appetizing story.
Un libro dovrebbe essere un ottimo modo per sfuggire alla realtà del momento ed entrare in un mondo completamente nuovo – e in questo, il libro eccelle. Infatti, il più bel complimento la scrittrice abbia ricevuto dopo aver pubblicato suo romanzo “Mia suocera è un mostro” è: “per un momento è stato possibile strappare un sorriso, commuovermi e cancellare (anche se solo per poco) i miei problemi per pensare invece del pasticcio che qualcuno altro ha combinato!
A book should be a great way to escape the reality of the moment and enter a whole new world – and in this, the book excels. In fact, the best compliment the writer received after publishing her novel “Mia suocera è un mostro” is: “for a moment it was possible to smile broadly, become emotional and erase (even if only for a while) my own problems and think instead of the predicaments that someone else had gotten themselves into!
Vorrei aggiungere anche un complimento. Grazie Valentina per aver scritto questo romanzo adorabile. Dopo aver finito il libro, mi sentivo di conoscere i personaggi e subito mi mancavano. Volevo sapere come sarebbero andate le loro vite e come sarebbero andate le loro relazioni…e volevo tornare in Sicilia per sdraiarmi su una spiaggia per godermi il mare azzurro e poi divorare un piatto di peperonata e pasta ‘ncasciato!
I would also like to add a compliment. Grazie Valentina for this delightful novel. After finishing the book, I felt I knew the characters and immediately missed them. I wanted to know how their lives turned out and how their relationships evolved… and I wanted to go back to Sicily to lie on a beach to enjoy the blue sea and devour a plate of peperonata e pasta ‘ncasciato!
