Avete bisogno di un po’ più di spiegazione? Che cosa significa “La Voce d’Italia”? Ecco “lo scoop”: per una settimana io sarò la curatrice del @I_am_Italy Twitter feed. Si tratta di un progetto di “curation rotation” che prende ispirazione dalla Svezia e dal suo account Twitter ufficiale @Sweden. Ma a differenza del progetto svedese, il feed @I_am_Italy è un’iniziativa di gente comune. Invece di un’organizzazione nazionale che gestisce il feed, questo feed d’Italia è curato da due cittadini italiani. Ogni settimana loro invitano una nuova persona che ha legami con l’Italia, all’interno del Paese e in tutto il mondo, per essere curatore del feed. Ogni curatore è invitato a condividere le proprie prospettive sul Paese così come i progetti personali o le iniziative.
Still not clear? Need a little more explanation? What does it mean to be “The Voice of Italy” mean? Here’s the scoop: for one week, I will be the curator of the @I_am_Italy Twitter feed. It is a “rotation curation” project which takes its inspiration from the official @Sweden Twitter account. But unlike the Swedish project, the @I_am_Italy feed is a grassroots media initiative. Instead of a national organization that manages the Italian feed, it is maintained by two Italian citizens. Each week they invite a new guest who has ties to Italy, inside the country and around the globe, to be the curator of the feed. Each curator is encouraged to share their perspectives about the country, as well as personal projects or initiatives.
Valeria e Mattia, due amici d’infanzia in Forlì di Emilia-Romagna, sono i creatori del @I_am_Italy. Quando le è stato chiesto dove l’idea sia nata, Valeria ha spiegato: Vivo a Berlino da qualche anno e qualche tempo fa sono venuta a conoscenza del progetto tedesco (@I_amGermany) quando un’amica ha annunciato che sarebbe stata “la Germania” per una settimana. Da quel momento ho iniziato a seguire il progetto tedesco, seguire la rotazione delle persone (dalla ragazza che lavora in casa-famiglia, all’artigiano di un piccolo villaggio, passando per l’esperta di Social Media di Berlino) ed a mano a mano ho notato l’interazione dei twittatori con gli altri account internazionali, capendo la potenzialità di questo network. Dopo un pò di tentennamenti ho deciso di provare ad aprire la piattaforma italiana e Mattia, amico letteralmente da tutta la vita, è stato subito entusiasta di condividere con me questo esperimento.
Valeria e Mattia, two lifelong friends from Forlì in the central Emilia-Romagna, are the creators of the “I am Italy” Twitter project. When asked where the idea came from, Valeria explains: I have lived in Berlin for several years and it came to my attention the German project (@I_amGermany) when a friend announced that she would be “la Germania” for a week. From that moment I began to follow the German project, following the rotation of the people (from a girl who works in a family home, to a craftsman in a small village, passing on to an expert of Social Media from Berlin), and gradually I noticed the interaction of other people on Twitter with the international account and I realized the potential of this network. After some hesitation, I decided to try to open the platform and along with Mattia, a friend I have known all my life, who was immediately excited to share with me in this experiment.
Allora, come funziona tutto questo? A ogni “Voce” è assegnata una settimana. La domenica sera, il curatore della settimana precedente dice addio, si inchina e il sipario si abbassa. L’intervallo dura poco però. Presto il sipario si alza di nuovo e un’altra persona entra in scena, dà un colpetto al “microfono”, schiarisce la voce, ed è pronto ad assumere il ruolo della voce d’Italia @I_am_Italy on Twitter. Non ci sono restrizioni sugli argomenti, solo essere consapevole del buon senso e della cortesia. Ognuno è libero di introdurre nuovi temi, avviare discussioni, condividere esperienze, storie, fatti e foto. In questo modo avremo la possibilità di contribuire alla ricca trama della consapevolezza di culturale italiana comune, utilizzando Twitter come piattaforma per comunicare.
So how does all this work? Each “Voice” is assigned one week. On Sunday nights, the curator of the week says goodbye, takes a bow and the curtain falls. The intermission is brief, however, and soon the curtain rises again and a new person takes center stage, taps his “microphone”, clears his throat, and becomes the Voice of Italy @I_am_Italy on Twitter. There are no restrictions to topics that can be covered, except to have common sense and common courtesy. Everyone is free to introduce new subjects, start discussions, share experiences, stories, facts, and photos. In this way, we get the chance to contribute to the rich tapestry of Italian cultural communal awareness using Twitter as the platform for communication.
