Sì naturalmente, tutti noi sogniamo quando dormiamo. Qualche volta quando chiudiamo gli occhi le nostre teste si riempiono di immagini e fantasie.

La ragione la mia protagonista Sophia ha questa tendenza di sognare ad occhi aperti è fin dalla sua tenera età, la madre di Sophia la incoraggia a sviluppare la sua immaginazione.

Ogni sera prima di andare a dormire la mamma riempiva la testa di sua figlia con le storie vere che trattavano dei soldati romani, i principi machiavellici, le bellissime duchesse rinascimentali, e raccontava anche le favole e le leggende italiane molto affascinanti.
Every evening before going to sleep, the mother filled her daughter’s head with true stories about Roman soldiers, the Machiavellian princes, the beautiful Renaissance duchesses, and also told very fascinating Italian tales and legends.
Per esempio la madre di Sophia deliziava sua figlia con il racconto della Donna Bianca che visse nel castello di Vincigliata a Fiesole, la città nelle colline sopra di Firenze.

Adesso, vorrei raccontare questa leggenda fantastica

Bianca era una bella fanciulla con la pelle dello stesso colore dell’alabastro traslucido. Fu corteggiata da molti uomini, ma il suo cuore apparteneva a un solo uomo, il figlio dell’arcinemico della famiglia. Sperando di riparare un vecchissimo feudo, Bianca supplicò suo padre di permetterle di sposarlo.
Bianca was a beautiful girl with skin the color of translucent alabaster. She was courted by many men, but her heart belonged to only one man, the son of the archenemy of the family. Hoping to repair a very old feud, Bianca pleaded with her father to allow her to marry him.
Vedendo l’amore e la Speranza negli occhi di sua figlia, il cuore del vecchietto si ammorbidì e lui accettò con riluttanza l’alleanza.
Seeing love and hope in his daughter’s eyes, the old man’s heart softened and he reluctantly accepted the alliance.
Vennero inviati i bandi nuziali e una grande festa fu preparata per celebrare la giovane coppia e far finire la lotta tra le due famiglie.
Wedding notices were sent out and a large party was prepared to celebrate the young couple and end the fight between the two families.
Il giorno della festa, Bianca si vestì con il suo abito da sposa, composto da una gonna elegante blu scuro e un corsetto colore crema, e salì sulla torre più alta del castello della famiglia.
On the day of the party, Bianca dressed herself in a wedding dress, consisting of an elegant dark blue skirt and a cream-colored corset, and climbed the highest tower of the family castle.
Voleva essere la prima ad intravedere il suo amato mentre cavalcava verso di lei, pronto per essere accolto nella sua famiglia.

Come egli spuntò dalla foresta a cavallo, Bianca gli fece un cenno e lo chiamò:“amore mio, sono qui!”
As he came out of the forest on horseback, Bianca did a nod and she called him: “my love, I’m here!”
Il suo fidanzato alzò lo sguarda la salutò con un caldo sorriso.
Her betrothed looked up and greeted her with a warm smile.
In quel momento il cuore di Bianca scoppiò di felicità. Credeva che i suoi sentimenti per quest’uomo avessero sconfitto tutto l’odio e il male nel mondo.
At that moment Bianca’s heart burst with happiness. She believed that her feelings for this man had defeated all hatred and evil in the world.
Ma ciò che vide dopo la terrorizzò.
But what she saw next terrified her.
Dalle ombre del bosco arrivarono due cavalieri di corsa. Rapidamente si avvicinarono allo sposo distratto, tirandolo dal suo cavallo e spingendolo per terra dando inizio a una feroce lotta con le spade.
From the shadows of the wood, two horsemen came galloping. Quickly they reached the distracted bridegroom, pulling him from his horse and pushing him to the ground, starting a fierce sword fight.
Bianca vide con orrore i colpi che furono scambiati tra loro.
Bianca saw with horror the blows that were exchanged between them.
Il giovane sposo reagì con agilità, ma essendo inferiore numericamente rispetto ai suoi massicci aggressori, perse rapidamente la sua energia.
The young bridegroom reacted with agility, but being outnumbered by his massive attackers, he quickly lost his energy.
Bianca iniziò ad urlare in modo incontrollabile, chiamando in aiuto i suoi fratelli. Ma era troppo tardi. L’assassino più grande si avvicinò da dietro, trafiggendo il cuore del giovane ragazzo con la spada.
Bianca started screaming uncontrollably, calling out to her brothers to help her bridegroom. But it was too late. The larger assassin came up from behind, piercing the young boy’s heart with his sword.
Lo sposo di Bianca morì rapidamente e dolorosamente. Non avrebbe mai ballato al suo matrimonio, né avrebbe brindato alla sua bella sposa con un calice di vino. Non avrebbe mai conosciuto la gioia di abbracciare il suo bambino non ancora nato.
Bianca’s fiance died quickly and painfully. He would never dance at her wedding, nor would he toast his beautiful bride with a goblet of wine. He would never know the joy of hugging her unborn child.
Guardandosi intorno furtivamente, gli assalitori sembrarono sentire per la prima volta gli urli torturati di Bianca. Entrambi gli uomini che erano incappucciati, si voltarono e guardarono verso la torre del castello.
Glancing around furtively, the attackers seemed to hear Bianca’s tortured screams for the first time. Both men who were hooded turned and looked towards the castle tower.
In quel momento I cappucci scivolarono dalle loro teste, rivelando così la loro vera identità. Gli occhi di Bianca si spalancarono per lo stupore e le urlo di dolore si bloccarono in gola quando riconobbe i propri fratelli.
At that moment the hoods slipped from their heads, thus revealing their true identity. Bianca’s eyes widened in amazement and the screams of pain stopped in her throat as she recognized her brothers.
Incapace di capire l’atto mostruoso che i suoi fratelli avevano appena commesso, Bianca si unì al suo fidanzato nella morte,poiché il suo cuore fu trafitto dal dolore, come se fosse stata anch’essa colpita da una spada affilata.
Unable to understand the monstrous deed that her brothers had just committed, Bianca joined her lover in death, for her heart was pierced with pain as if she had also been struck by a sharp sword.
Con il suo ultimo respiro, guardò in facia il suo sposo che apparse davanti a lei invitandola a unirsi a lui. Prendendo la sua mano Bianca si alzò e cercò di seguirlo. Ma qualcosa la trattenne.
With her last breath, she facially looked at her spouse who appeared before her inviting her to join him. Taking his hand Bianca stood up and tried to follow him. But something held her back.
Improvvisamente Bianca si rese conto che aveva bisogno di restare sulla terra per aiutare tutti i tipi di amori minacciati dalla gelosia, dall’iprocrisia, e dalla discriminazione.
Suddenly Bianca realized that she needed to stay on earth to help all kinds of loves threatened by jealousy, hypocrisy, and discrimination.
Adesso si dice che il fantasma di Bianca sia rimasta intrappolato all’interno delle mura del Castello di Vincigliata. Lei continua a infestare il palazzo proteggendo gli amanti, sperando che un giorno, con il suo aiuto, l’amore trionferà sull’odio.
Now it is said that Bianca’s ghost was trapped inside the walls of the Castello di Vincigliata. She keeps on haunting the palace protecting lovers, hoping that one day, with her help, love will triumph over hatred.
Bella questa leggenda, no?
