I would like to present my friend Emma, an Italian language teacher living in Pisa. I had the opportunity to meet up with Emma a few years ago in Rome and together, we explored the Roman ghetto and later had dinner in a delightful trattoria. That evening we dined on artichokes and pasta carbonara and drank a very good red wine. As we ate, the restaurant owner sat at a table nearby, peeling crates and crates of artichokes and he happily joined in our conversation from time to time.
