Ciao a tutti! As you know, through the Matta website, I offer students and those fascinated by Italian language and culture the opportunity of homestay Italian Language vacations. It is an amazing opportunity to live and learn in the home of your Italian teacher. For several years now, I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Elena who lives in Bergamo. I’ve even had the pleasure of staying in her home, having a home-cooked meal with her as well as a personally guided tour of her beautiful city.

Accommodations in Bergamo
Elena’s home is situated between Città Alta and Città Bassa, in the protected area of “Parco dei Colli”. The four-story house has a large and cozy attic for her guests with a TV, Wi-Fi, sofa, glass desk, and a private bathroom. Weather permitting, classes will be in the patio or in the garden as well as lunch, aperitivo and dinner. Meals are provided on a full board basis. Elena can host a single student, or a couple in her Bergamo home.

Elena’s House in Corenno Plinio
La Casa di Elena a Corenno Plinio. Corenno Plinio è un antico borgo medievale (la mia casa, ovviamente restaurata. risale al 1600) ed è un posto che va bene per gli studenti che cercano pace e tranquillità: la casa dà direttamente sul lago ed ha un accesso privato al lago, cosa rara in queste zone, per cui si può nuotare e prendere il sole senza muoversi da casa in macchina. Inoltre ha un terrazzo con una bellissima vista dove facciamo lezione e ceniamo, spesso con gli amici. Gli studenti lo adorano.
Elena’s House in Corenno Plini. Corenno Plinio is an ancient medieval village that dates back to 1600. (Elena’s house, of course, has been fully renovated.) It is a perfect place for students looking for peace and tranquility. The house overlooks the lake and has private access to the lake, which is rare in these areas, so you can swim and sunbathe without leaving the house by car. It also has a terrace with a beautiful view where we will have lessons and dinner, often with friends. Students love it.
Elena’s House in Menaggio
Menaggio è una cittadina rinomata per la sua eleganza e bellezza, al centro del famoso “Triangolo d’oro” al centro del lago ed è più adatto a chi cerca un posto “di vita” con bar ristoranti negozi. Naturalmente, essendo un posto turistico, d’estate è molto frequentato. È ancora il posto perfetto per chi vuole avere anche una vacanza con maggiore autonomia di spostamento, visto che a pochi passi da casa c’è il battello col quale ci si può comodamente spostare per visitare i famosi paesi con le splendide ville e giardini botanici (Tremezzo con Villa Carlotta; Varenna con Villa Monastero; Bellagio, proprio di fronte a Menaggio, con la sua bella Villa Melzi). Si possono fare anche belle passeggiate sulla “Greenway” o sulla “Antica Via Regina” o in montagna.
Menaggio is a town renowned for its elegance and beauty, in the center of the famous “Golden Triangle” in the center of the lake district. It is suitable for those looking for accommodation with a little more activity, bars, restaurants, and shops. Being a tourist destination, it is very popular in the summer. Still is the perfect spot for those who also want to have a holiday with greater autonomy of movement since a few steps from the house there is the boat that you can take to visit the famous villages with splendid villas and botanical gardens (Tremezzo with Villa Carlotta; Varenna with Villa Monastero; and Bellagio is just in front of Menaggio, with its beautiful Villa Melzi). You can also take beautiful walks on the “Greenway” or thin the “Antica Via Regina” or in the mountains.
The enchanting and elegant historical house in Menaggio, is totally restored. It is located in the main square by the lake, with boutique shops, café, and good restaurants at walking distance. Elena can host a single student, a couple (also when only one of them is taking an Italian course with Elena), or small groups up to 4 people.

Elena è laureata in lingue straniere a Milano. Dieci anni fa, ha iniziato la sua attività linguistica in famiglia. Elena has a degree in foreign languages from Milan. Ten years ago, she began her homestay language activity. Elena’s language program includes full room and board, an entrance exam, all learning materials, and custom-tailored daily Italian lessons. Each student is different and each of Elena’s courses is tailor-made to suit each student’s needs. You will have structured lessons, but plenty of opportunities to continue learning outside of classes through informal conversations while helping Elena with shopping enjoying a coffee at the bar, or chatting with Elena’s visitors and neighbors.
Elena’s homestay includes: Full room and board, rides to the airport of Bergamo or the Bergamo train station. Daily local afternoon excursions and 1 full-day excursion to a nearby city chosen by you. You can visit Milano, Brescia, Verona, Cremona, Mantova, Pavia when in Bergamo. The program may also include additional activities: cinema, theatre, cooking classes, a dinner with friends, or meeting neighbors to sporting activities such as walks, bicycle, swimming, acquabyke, acquagym, tennis, golf, gym, roller skating, at one hour distance, skiing and ice-skating (in winter), sailing, windsurf and kitesurf in summer. You may select your preferences on arrival and Elena can make arrangements.
