Gabriella’s Homestay in Pontecagnano/Salerno in Campania. Gaby calls her homestay on the Amalfi coast, near Naples “Studia, Viaggia, Mangia!” it is a tailor-made learning solution to study the Italian language and culture in her home. During your stay with Gabriella, you will immerse yourself in Italian life with one-to-one private lessons and you will learn faster. Gabriella is an experienced and certificated teacher of the Italian language LS/LS with an incredible passion for travel. She is certified by the Cà Foscari of Venice and has a degree in Oriental Languages and Foreign Literatures. She has taught Italian to all age levels and will adapt her program to suit your specific needs.
A little bit about the location and where Gabriella is located. Gabriella lives in Pontecagnano, a small town near Salerno (Campania) which is a lovely area between the Amalfitan Coast and Cilento; one of the world’s most beautiful and sought-after destinations. Not only will you learn Italian you will have the opportunity to ride a bike around this small peaceful town in Southern Italy where nobody speaks your language. You will enjoy a real espresso with the locals while listening to incredible stories from the natives. You will love the peaceful and familiar atmosphere of Pontecagnano and the happiness of the people. You will become a part of Gabriella’s family and be integrated into the daily routine. Your accommodation will be inclusive: full board and all meals will be taken with the family. You will organize your activities and excursions with Gaby after your arrival.
The area of Pontecagnano dates back to Etruscan period and Roman times when the city of Picentia (part of the town) stood in place and was destroyed by the Romans after the Second Punic War. The gentleness of the climate, the beauty of the coast, and the richness of the art and history of the area make the town perfect for a homestay study vacation. There is always something new to discover in this wonderful land kissed by the sun and caressed by the Tyrrhenian Sea: Naples with its incredible history and monuments, the ruins of Pompei, the Greek Temples of Paestum, the Cathedral of Salerno, the Royal Palace in Caserta, the Amalfitan Coast, the Cilento which will take you back in time to long-forgotten ages, just to mention few places….. Your stay will be unforgettable.
Pontecagnano has an incredible National Museum of Etruscans, that holds the archaeological finds from the necropolis of Pontecagnano: many bronzes, metal plates and cups, decorated pots and finds from the Etruscan and Roman ages. Another place of great historical-cultural interest in the area is the Archaeological Park of the ancient Picentia.
A homestay Italian Language Course with Gabriella. Your Homestay is the perfect combination of language and culture, fun, and activities. Grammar and vocabulary will help you understand how language works but to be fluent, you need to live and practice with native speakers, through immersion methods in your teacher’s home. The lessons will be created for you, on your interests and needs, as tailor-made courses. The teaching materials will change according to each student’s needs and will include Italian culture and literature, films, songs…cooking classes, and special activities, too like Swimming, cross-fit, tennis, gym, golf, sailing, windsurf, hiking, knitting, and hand embroidery, cinema, theater, dinner with friends, a visit to a buffalo farm to see how mozzarella is made!
Gabriella’s Home & Accommodations. You will live as part of the family with Gabriella’s 2 children, a boy 12ys and a girl 10ys and a small dog. She lives in an independent house with a garden. You will be integrated into their daily family routine. Your accommodation, in a single room with a private bathroom, will be inclusive of full board and all meals will be taken with the family.
In Gabriella’s house, she can host a single student and a couple too. If you are traveling with friends and need a few extra rooms, she can arrange your accommodation in her family hotel but spend all day with her.
• Comfortable homestay accommodation in a private room and bathroom with all facilities, including Wi-Fi and TV, in your teachers’ home.
• Pick up from the local railway station (Salerno or Pontecagnano) (unless transfer from the airport is requested)
• A week is 7 nights accommodation
• Full board accommodation in my home – breakfast, lunch, dinner plus 2 dinners in local restaurants/pizzeria.
• Use of the bike.
• 15/20/25 hours one to one lesson (depending on students needs)
