Laura’s Homestay in Bologna offers you a more independent kind of homestay. You will learn Italian in Italy, staying in an apartment next door to your Laura while attending her classes during the day. You will have as much one on one time with Laura, during your stay, as well as make friends with locals. Laura offers a full Italian experience, with her friend and colleague Antonella their language project Love Italian, is a perfect match of language, culture, and fun.
A Little bit about Bologna: Bologna is the largest city of Emilia-Romagna, located in Northern Italy. It is both a young and vibrant city and a city with a long and proud history and Laura strives to integrate learning the beautiful Italian language with experiencing our city like a local, experiencing a rich and diverse culture.
“Bologna, the Città Rossa, its red-tiled roofs, red bricks, and red-washed stucco palazzos that line narrow streets radiating around a picturesque historic center. With its twelfth-century towers, piazzas, and more than twenty-five miles of porticoes, a walk-in Bologna is an opportunity to feel immersed in the past, while enjoying the charm of a modern city.
Bologna, the La Dotta is home of the Alma Mater Studiorum, the University of Bologna, the first university of the Western World, established in the year 1088 and an important thread in the city’s history since. The porticoes, the mercantile spirit, the international nature of the city find root in that important past.
Then there is Bologna La Grassa, the Fat City, for which she has always been famous. Just a list of the noted dishes explains it well: a mound of freshly made tagliatelle topped with meaty ragù Bolognese and plenty of grated Parmesan cheese; tortellini floating in their savory meat broth; thinly sliced, satiny smooth Mortadella Bolognese; and fresh and aged cheeses too numerous to name. Discover the treasures of a truly remarkable city—Bologna: La Rossa, La Dotta, La Grassa.” — Mary Tolaro Noyes writer

Where you will stay: It is fundamental that you feel at home while in Bologna. You will be living next to your teacher but in your own apartment, with an independent entrance. The living space has recently been renovated and is located on the second floor (with a lift) of a typical Bolognese building that features a traditional “portico”, in the historic city center. The accommodation is 45 square meters and suitable for one person and is composed of a kitchen/living room, a bathroom with double bed. It is light and airy thanks to the large windows that face an internal courtyard. For this reason, the apartment is very quiet and very bright at the same time.
The location of the apartment is in the city center, a few steps away from the main roads. It is in an ideal position to visit and discover the attractions the city has to offer. The area is easy to reach from the train station and the airport, and it is well-served by public transport. Nearby is a supermarket, pharmacies, tobacconists, churches, restaurants, bars, bakeries, San Francesco Church Piazza Maggiore, San Petronio Due Torri, Central Station.
Meals The Homestay in Bologna is more independent than some of the others. You will be in your own apartment next door to your teacher. Meals can be prepared in your own kitchen, or sometimes even with Laura. There is a market just around the corner from your accommodation. Laura also likes to organize dinners in local restaurants with her students, so there is always the opportunity to dine in some of the spots that are favorites among the locals.
House rules: Please, no smoking, no pets.
