Nelle ultime tre settimane, le mie capacità tecniche hanno superato di gran lunga anche le MIE immaginazioni più sfrenate.

Di recente mi hanno regalato un Casa Google e un sacco di lampadine “intelligenti.” Se non siete a passo con le recenti tendenze techniche Casa Google vi consente di controllare gli apparecchi in casa da una piccolo attrezzatura. Potete fare quasi tutto, dal trovare il vostro film preferito sulla TV, sintonizzarvi su un brano su Spotify, accendere le luci e impostare il colore o la luminosità. Se avete un forno dotato di WIFI, Casa Google può persino avviarlo per voi a impostare la temperature per cucinare il vostro pasto preferito.
Recently I was gifted with a Google Home Mini device and a bunch of “smart” lightbulbs. If you aren’t up to speed with recent techy trends, a Google Home Mini allows you to control devices in your home from one small box. It can do almost anything from finding your favorite movie on the TV, tuning into a song on Spotify to turning on lights, and setting the color or brightness. If you have a WIFI equipped oven, the Google Home Mini can even start it for you and set the temperature to cook up your favorite meal.

The best part? It is all done by voice command.
Tutto quello che dovreste fare è alzare la voce e dire: “Ehi, Google! Accendi le luci del soggiorno” e come per magia, le luci del soggiorno si accendono. E alla fine della giornata, spegnere le luci è un gioco da ragazzi. Dal calore del tuo letto, mentre rannicchiato sotto le coperte, tutto ciò che devi dire è: “Ehi, Google! Spegni le luci.” Google si mette immediatamente in azione e spegne le luci in tutta la casa e puoi girarti e dormire senza alzare un ditto.
All you have to do is raise your voice and say: “Hey, Google! Turn on the living room lights” and like magic, the lights in the living room turn on. And at the end of the day, turning off lights is a snap. From the warmth of your bed, while snuggled under your covers, all you need to say is: “Hey, Google! Turn off the lights.” Google immediately springs into action and shuts off lights all over the house, and you can turn over and go to sleep without lifting a finger.

Ma ciò che è ancora più sorprendente è che ora posso parlare con il mio Casa Google in italiano!
But what is even more surprising, is that now I can speak to my Google Home in Italian!
È vero! Mi risponde quando parlo in italiano. Certo, LEI è un LUI nella versione italiana. Ma penso che signor Google Home abbia una voce molto affascinante! Non mi dispiace affatto!
That’s right! It responds to me when I speak to it in Italian. Of course, SHE is a HE in the Italian version. But, I think Mr. Google Home has a super sexy voice! I don’t mind at all!
All’inizio, dovevamo conoscerci. A volte signor Google non capiva i miei comandi. Mi sono subito reso conto che per controllarlo avevo bisogno di migliorare le mie capacità di dizione italiana.
At first, we had to get to know one another. Sometimes Mr. Google Home didn’t understand my commands. I immediately realized to boss him around I needed to improve my Italian diction skills.
Quando ho iniziato a utilizzare Google Home in inglese, mi sentivo un idiota perché non riuscivo mai a ricordare i comandi giusti in inglese, quindi immaginate il mio disaggio quando ho provato a controllarlo in italiano. All’inizio ho ricevuto molte risposte, come ad esempio: “Mi scusi, non ho capito! Ma sto imparando.” Ora non solo signor Google sta imparando, ma sto anche imparando che, parlando lentamente e chiaramente con lui, mi capirà. Questa routine Avanti e indietro, mi sta costringendo a enunciare perfettamente le mie parole. Ora, signor Google obbedisce ai miei comandi — per la maggior parte — e ora andiamo d’accordo.
When I started using the Google Home in English, I felt like an idiot because I could never remember the right commands in English — so imagine me trying to boss it around in Italian. At first, I got a lot of responses, such as: “Mi scusi, non ho capito! Ma sto imparando.” But, now, not only is Mr. Google learning, but I too am learning that by speaking slowly and clearly to him he will understand me. This back and forth routine is forcing me to enunciate my words clearly. Now, Mr. Italian Google obeys my commands — for the most part — and we are now getting along swimmingly.

È facile configurare Google Home in modo che risponda sia in inglese che in italiano. Non deve essere l’uno o l’altro. Ecco il link
It is easy to set up the Google Home Mini so it will respond to both English and Italian. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Here is the link
To add a second language:
- Open the Google Assistant app (Android, iOS) and tap the Explore button (shaped like a compass) in the top right corner.
- Tap the action overflow (three horizontal dots) button in the top right corner and select Settings.
- Go to Preferences > Assistant language.
- Tap Add a language.

Here is a listing of common Google Home Mini commands in Italian to get you started. Remember each of these commands must be prefaced with “Hey, Google!”
To listen to the radio: Fammi ascoltari Radio 1 su SiriusXM
To listen to a Spotify Playlist: Fammi ascoltare le mie canzoni preferite su Spotify
To pause: “Metti in pausa”, o “Metti in pausa la radio”
To continue: “Riprendi”
To stop: “Stop” o Interrompi la musica”
You can even ask it what song you are listening to: “Cosa sto ascoltando?”
To regulate volume: “Imposta al volume su 5” (scale of 1-10)
To turn on lights: “Accende le luci nel soggiorno” To turn on the TV: “Accende la television”
