Visiting Frascati with Daniela Mancini and Roberto Tartaglione from Scud’It

Ciao a tutti! Bentornati nel mio canale di YouTube! Come va? Sono appena tornata da Roma dove ho trascorso due bellissime settimane con il gruppo “Matta” di Roma due mille quindici 2015! Abbiamo fatto tante belle cose nella Città Eterna. Ma che caldo! Non ci potevo credere! Tutta l’Italia è nella presa di un caldo infernale. Ma, nonostante l’estate italiana umida e calda, ci siamo divertiti un mondo. Il nostro appartamento era vicino al Colosseo e abbiamo imparato come usare i mezzi di trasporto pubblici per girare la città. Infatti ogni mattina andavamo a scuola per studiare l’italiano in Via la Spezia in autobus; la scuola era a vicino a noi e, per andarci, ogni giorno passavamo davanti alla chiesa di San Giovanni in Laterano e ammiravamo veri quartieri romani. Mi sentivo una vera romana!

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my YouTube Channel. How are you all? I’ve just returned from Rome where I spent two great weeks with my 2015 Matta Roma Art & Language Group! We did so many wonderful things in the Eternal City. But it was hot! Wow! All of Italia is in the grip of a crazy heat weave. But despite the humid hot Italian summer, we enjoyed ourselves very much. Our apartment was very close to the Colosseum and we learned how to get around the city using public transportation. In fact every morning we went to school to study Italian in Via la Spezia by bus; the school was very nearby to us, and to get there we passed by the Church of San Giovanni in Laterano and admired various Roman neighborhoods. I felt like a real Roman!

La scuola, Scud’it, si trova in una bella zona tranquilla di Roma e siamo stati ben accolti da meravigliosi insegnanti. Il direttore Roberto Tartarglione è molto simpatico e divertente e ci siamo trovati bene con altri studenti di tutto il mondo. Io sono stata molto fortunata a studiare con Daniela C, una donna e insegnante favolosa. Oltre ad essere una brava maestra del congiuntivo – ha scritto un libro sul argomento – lei è anche molto comica e divertente.

The school, Scud’It can be found in a quiet part of Rome and we were warmly greeted by the wonderful teachers who work at the school. Roberto Tartaglione, the director is delightful and entertaining and we were in great company with other students from all over the world. I was very fortunate to study with Daniela Mancini, a wonderful woman and teacher. In addition to being an expert teacher of the congiuntivo tense, she has also written a book on the subject- she too is very comical and entertaining.

Una serata, per evitare il caldo, come i Romani fanno, siamo scappati con altri studenti e insegnanti a Frascati per goderci l’aria fresca fuori dalla città. Abbiamo preso il treno per andarci – un viaggio breve di mezz’ora –  e, una volta arrivati, Daniela ci e’ venuta a prendere alla stazione e ci ha presentato la “sua” Frascati (lei abita li’). Poi abbiamo bevuto del vino forte e fresco fatto nella regione e abbiamo fatto un picnic con degustazione di cibi locali in una piazza. Al tramonto qualcuno ha iniziato a suonare la sua chitarra e la gente ha cantato fino a tardi.

One evening, to avoid the heat, as the Romans do, we escaped with other students and teachers to Frascati to enjoy the fresh air outside the city. We took the train to get there – a brief trip, about half an hour – and once we arrived, Daniela greeted us at the station and showed us around “her” Frascati (she lives there). Then we drank the strong fresh white Frascati wine, and we had a picnic, trying the local foods in the piazza. At sunset, someone began to play his guitar and all the folks sang late into the evening.
