Ferragosto, o come alcuni amano chiamarlo, “l’Ultimo Giorno dello Staycation,” è un giorno in cui anche le strade più trafficate di Roma potrebbero sembrare stranamente vuote. Perché? Perché tutti sono in spiaggia, in montagna, o alla griglia Passerotti in Puglia con la famiglia e gli amici.
Ferragosto, or as some like to call it, Italy’s Ultimate Staycation Day, is a day when even the busiest streets of Rome might seem oddly empty. Why? Because everyone’s at the beach, up in the mountains, or grilling passerotti in Puglia with family and friends.
Ferragosto è una festa italiana celebrata il 15 agosto, e come leggenda (o meglio, la storia) dice che Ferragosto risale al 18 a.C. quando l’imperatore Augusto, nella sua mossa classica di “trattare te stesso”, stabilì la “Feriae Augusti” o “Feste di Augusto.”
Ferragosto is an Italian holiday celebrated on the 15th of August, and as legend (or rather, history) has it that Ferragosto dates back to 18 B.C. when Emperor Augustus, in his classic move of “treat yo’ self,” established the “Feriae Augusti” or “Festivals of Augustus.”
