La libreria dei gatti neri by Piergiorgio Pulixi is a captivating cozy mystery that beautifully blends nostalgia with a modern twist, making it perfect for both language learners and seasoned mystery enthusiasts. The novel is set in the charming bookstore Les Chats Noirs, located in the heart of Cagliari, in Italy and run by the gruff yet charismatic Marzio Montecristo. Montecristo, a passionate fan of detective novels, opened this small shop dedicated to crime fiction, where two mysterious black cats named Miss Marple and Poirot have taken up residence, lending the bookstore its name.

Despite Montecristo’s prickly demeanor, Les Chats Noirs is a popular spot, thanks largely to his young assistant, Patricia, who helps smooth over his rough edges. Though a ragtag bunch, they are tightly knit, and Montecristo, somewhat reluctantly, has become the heart of the group.
