Ciao Tutti! Bentornati nel mio canale. Sono Melissa, la matta! Oggi facciamo la valigia! Io sto per andare a ROMA! Che emozione! Tra poco sarò nella città dei gladiatori, di Cinecittà, del pantheon, della fontana di Trevi, del vaticano, di piazza Navona e piazza del popolo, e della bocca della verità. Ci vado per passare una settimana bellissima con un gruppo di studenti che ho organizzato per studiare la lingua e dipingere nella città eterna. Studiamo la mattina a Scud’It – la scuola di Roberto Tartaglione e poi il pomeriggio disegniamo con Kelly Medford una pittrice di dipingere all’aria aperta per i viali e in tutti gli angoli di  Roma. Durante le serate, ceniamo con gli amici italiani e viviamo come i romani d’estate. Bello no! Non vedo l’ora!

Hello Everyone! Welcome back to my channel. This is Melissa – the totally addicted language student! Today I am packing suitcases! I am going to go to Rome! How exciting! Soon I will be in the city of gladiators, Cinecittà, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Vatican, Piazza Navona and Piazza del Popolo, and the mouth of the truth. I’m going to spend a beautiful week with a group of students who have organized to study the language and painting in the Eternal City. We study in the morning to Scud’It – Roberto Tartaglione school and then in the weeks draw with Kelly Medford a painter’s plein-air to the avenue and angoli all over Rome. In the evenings, we have dinner with Italian friends and we live as the Romans do in the summer. Bello no! I look forward!

Amo tutto di Roma. Ha un’energia frenetica. È grande, rumorosa, e ci sono strati di storia dietro ogni angolo. Infatti quando loro costruiscono un nuovo edificio, scavando nella terra trovano sempre un nuova opera d’arte dagli antichi romani e delle generazioni precedenti. Ma Roma per me è tutto quest è di più. È la città dell’arte barocca! È la città degli artisti come Michelangelo, Bernini, e Caravaggio e Borromini. Delle chiese magnifiche che esplodano con dramma e prospettive che fanno sciogliere il soffitto in modo che possiamo vedere in cielo.

I love everything about Rome. It has hectic energy. It’s big, noisy, and there are layers of history around every corner. In fact, when they build a new building, dig in the ground they always find a new work of art by the ancient Romans and the previous generations. But Rome is everything to me what is more. It is the city of Baroque! It is the city of artists such as Michelangelo, Bernini and Borromini, and Caravaggio. Magnificent churches explode with drama and perspective that make the ceiling dissolves so that we can see in the sky.

Ma…prima di arrivare in aeroplano presso l’aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci a Roma, è necessario prima fare la valigia! Questo è un bel po’ di lavoro e qualche volta può essere una sfida. Perché per andare all’estero si deve organizzare bene tutta la roba che si vuole portare in vacanza, cercando di non portare troppe cose e tenendo la valigia abbastanza leggera! Vediamo se ci riesco!

But … before you arrive at Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome, you must first pack your suitcase! La prima cosa di cui avrò bisogno? Le valigie! Eccole! Infatti, quando io viaggio, porto con me due valigie con le ruote. Le ruote sono necessarie per muoversi facilmente attraverso l’aeroporto, senza farsi male alla schiena! La ruota è stata inventata intorno 3500 anni avanti Cristo, ma ci sono voluti diversi millenni prima che qualcuno avesse l’avuto le idea di fissarle ad una valigia! È stato proprio Benard Sadow il vice presidente di United Baggage che è riuscito a farlo, cambiando per sempre il modo in cui viaggiamo!

The first thing I need? The suitcases! Here they are! In fact, when I travel I always carry two suitcases with wheels. The wheels are necessary especially when traveling alone so as to move easily through the airport without hurting your back! The wheel was invented around 3500 BC, but it took several millennia before someone had the idea to secure them in a suitcase! It was just Benard Sadow vice president of United Baggage that managed to do so, changing forever the way we travel!

Ecco un suggerimento fantastico! Per riconoscere il vostro bagaglio quando arrivate alla vostra destinazione, mettete una sciarpa o attaccate qualcosa carino alla maniglia per trovare la valigia nel mare di altre valigie!

Here’s a nice tip! To recognize your luggage when you arrive at your destination, put on a scarf or attack something cute to dial to find the suitcase in the sea of others!

Nella valigia più grande metto le scarpe, i vestiti, le gonne, le camicie, le magliette, le mutande, le reggisene, il costume di bagno e le sciarpe. Cerco di non sovraccaricarla lasciando sempre spazio in valigia per portare a casa i tesori e souvenirs dai miei viaggi.

In the larger suitcase, put on my shoes, dresses, skirts, shirts, T-shirts, underwear, the bathing suit, scarves. I try not to overpack … always leaving room in your suitcase to take home the treasures and souvenirs from my travels.

Attenzione! ricordatevi di portare sempre le scarpe comode, specialmente quando andate a Roma…è una città in cui si può camminare molto. Di solito mi piace mettere gli sandali e le scarpe carine con tacchi alti, ma quando viaggio voglio evitare di farmi male ai piedi e non voglio le vesciche – quindi scelgo le scarpe più comode, ma sempre con un occhio alla moda.

Attention! Always wear comfortable shoes, especially when you go to Rome … is a city where will walk a lot! Usually, I like to put the sandals and cute shoes with high heels, but when I travel I want to avoid hurting my feet – so I choose the shoes more sensible, but always with an eye on fashion.

Naturalmente visto che questa valigia sarà controllata fino alla destinazione finale, dentro questa valigia mettete le cose liquide…le bottiglie di shampoo, di profumo, di sapone, e la roba per pulire le lenti. Ricordate anche di mettere il sapone per lavare i vestiti in albergo.

Of course, given that this case will be checked through to the final destination, in this suitcase put all of your liquids shampoo, perfume, soap, and the stuff to clean the lenses. Also I carry with me always soap to wash clothes in the hotel.

Nella piccola valigia che porto a bordo dell’aeroplano, metterò il mio portatile, e aggiungo sempre qualche vestito nel caso che l’altra venga persa. Dovete essere preparati agli imprevisti! Non si sa mai se vedrete la valigia di nuovo! Ma state tranquilli! Si può sempre fare lo shopping a Roma nella via del Corso!

In the small suitcase that I carry with me onboard the airplane, I’ll put my laptop, and always add some clothes in case the other is to be lost. You must be prepared for nasty surprises! You never know…you may never see your bag again! But do not worry! You can always go shopping in Rome in Via del Corso!

Allora Siamo quasi pronti per partire…l’ultima cosa…chiudere la valigia! Se avete problemi ho trovato che se vi sedete sulla valigia, la chiudete senza problemi!

So…almost ready to go… the last thing do do…close the suitcase! If you have any problems I have found if you sit on the case it closes without any problems!

Adesso non dimenticate di mettere il passaporto nella borsa e portate con voi sempre il biglietto e itinerario…e i soldi…o meglio una carta di credito! Con queste cose se non doveste più vedere il bagaglio almeno potrete continuare a godervi il vostro viaggio!

Now don’t forget to put your passport into your handbag and take with you always the ticket and itinerary … and money … better yet a credit card! With these things, if you did not see never the luggage at least you can continue to enjoy your trip!
