BOO! È Halloween di nuovo! Siamo già quel periodo dell’anno in cui gli spiriti dei defunti tornano sulla terra alla ricerca di un corpo da possedere. Si dice che i travestimenti più orripilanti servano a tener lontano gli spiriti. Si ritiene anche che intagliare volti terrificanti sulle zucche sia un altro ottimo modo per evitare le visite di anime indesiderate e fastidiose che semplicemente non rimangono sepolte!

BOO! It’s time for Halloween again! It is that time of year when the spirits of the dead return to earth in search of a body to possess. It is said that dressing up in a terrifying costume scares away evil spirits. It is also believed that carving terrifying faces on pumpkins is also an excellent way to frighten away unwanted advances from those pesky souls that won’t stay buried.

Ti vesto a Halloween? Se sì o se no, potete ringraziare i Celti, un popolo incredibilmente fantasioso che ha inventato questa tradizione. Inoltre, leggende celtiche dicono che la notte di Halloween, streghe e fate e altre creature fantastiche che vagano sulla terra, possono essere molto cattivi. Per evitare di cadere vittima dei loro scherzi i Celti saggiamente offrivano loro del cibo come una offerta di pace.

Credo che alla gente piaccia vestirsi e prendere un nuovo carattere. I think people like to dress up and assume new personas. It is rather exciting to step out of one’s comfort zone and impersonate someone a little eviler or a little more saintly. Whether you are celebrating Halloween or Carnevale, the opportunity to change one’s appearance, if only for an evening, is an excellent reason to throw a party and beg for food!
