al nuovo anno!

A toast to 2021!

Non dimenticherò mai 2020. Mai. Siamo passati attraverso le sue asperità e ci ha imposto tante rinunce. Abbiamo subito la sua durezza e ci ha costretta a momenti complicati: la scuola a distanza, lo Smart working, niente abbracci, niente baci, tutti con la mascherina, niente sorrisi—tanta distanza.

I will never forget 2020. Never. We went through a tough time and the year imposed on us so many sacrifices. We suffered from many difficulties and hardships that were imposed upon us: remote learning, working from home, no hugs, no kisses, and everyone with masks, no smiles—everything at a distance.

Ma noi siamo più forti e siamo riusciti a trovare un nuovo equilibrio, ad adattarci ai cambiamenti. Che differenze se io penso a come è iniziato il 2020, la mia vecchia vita tra palestra, riunioni, uscite con gli amici—e organizzare le gite e programmi in Italia. Ed oggi invece finisco l’anno a casa, con la mia famiglia festeggiando perché grazie al cielo ci siamo tutti e abbiamo la nostra salute.

But we are stronger and we have managed to find a new balance, to adapt to changes. What a difference when  I think about how 2020 began, my old life of going to the gym, meetings, going out with friends and planning trips and programs in Italy. And now instead, I finish the year at home, with my family celebrating because thanks to the heavens above, we are all here and have our health.

In questo momento, alla vigilia del nuovo anno, è importante fare il punto su ciò che è importante.

At this time, on the eve of the new year, it is important to take stock of what is important.

Sono grata per la famiglia.

I am grateful for my family.

Sono grata per la mia creatività – per la capacità di creare qualcosa che prima non esisteva e di metterlo nel mondo.

I’m grateful for my creativity—for the ability to create something that
didn’t exist before and to put it into the world.

Sono grata per tutti gli amici in Italia e in tutto il mondo.

I’m grateful for all my friends in Italy and around the world.

Sono grata per per la mia salute.

I’m grateful for my health.

Sono grata di alzarmi ogni mattina per affrontare
un nuovo giorno per fare una differenza.

I’m grateful to be able to get up every morning
and face a new day and make a difference.

Speriamo di riprenderci le vite nel 2021 e di goderle a pieno come prima, anzi più di prima.

We hope to take our lives back in 2021 and enjoy them as fully as before, even more than before.
