Ascoli is a beautiful city, peaceful and full of surprises. I can’t wait to return. All levels of language learners are welcome from BEGINNER to ADVANCED. Students will be placed in appropriate classes according to their language levels along with other International students attending la Accademia Internazionale in Ascoli. All classes at la Accademia Internazionale feature a mix of grammar instruction, as well as Italian Culture, designed to take each student to the next level of speaking and comprehension.

Highlights of the 2022 “Matta” Ascoli program include excursions to the town of Offida to visit the Romanesque church of Santa Maria della Rocca and have a Tombolo (lacemaking) demonstration. There will be two cooking classes and a full-day beach excursion to San Benedetto del Tronto for lunch and to walk the ocean promenade, shop, swim, or just relax on the white sandy beach. Ascoli is famous for its jousting festival — “la Quintana,” and although we won’t be there for the actual event, we will recreate the fanfare of the festival for you! We will begin with a seminar about the festival and visit Ascoli’s jousting headquarters to see colorful costumes and banners. Our “la Quintana” festival will culminate with a Renaissance dinner complete with music, flag throwers, and dancing. During your stay, there will also be plenty of time to wander and shop and enjoy a coffee or a spritz and a basket of Ascoli’s famous stuffed olives in her beautiful main piazza!
